About Us
The Sustainable Energy Lab is part of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) of the University of Trento. It supports academic research, higher education, and teaching activities. The Lab focuses on optimizing energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions through advanced analysis and testing. In addition to research, the lab laboratory offers consulting services on dynamic energy modeling of buildings, HVAC systems, and energy components for both private companies and public authorities. Our experimental activities include:
- Characterization of thermal conductivity and diffusivity of buildings' materials;
- Calibration of measuring sensors (e.g. temperature, relative humidity);
- Thermo-hygrometric performances of building envelope components both in steady state and dynamic regimes;
- HVAC performance testing by means of the hardware-in-the-loop test line;
- Efficacy of the HVAC control logics;
- In situ measurement of building and HVAC performance and commissioning activities;
- Objective monitoring of the indoor environmental quality.
The laboratory also plays an active role in education, with team members teaching in the Bachelor's degree program in Environmental and Civil Engineering, as well as in the Master’s degree program in Energy Engineering.
